Located in Upstate NY, the Rochester Area Triathletes (aka RATs) club is an organized non-profit 501c3, certified by USAT and Ironman, with over 300 multi-sport enthusiasts dedicated to supporting "Athletes of All Abilities".
No matter what level or distance you fall into as a triathlete, we have absolute beginners to Kona-qualifiers. You belong!
In a sport that has seen participation declines over the past decade, Rochester is the exact opposite. Why? RATs!
Our mission is to foster a culture of respect that welcomes athletes of all levels and gives back to the triathlon community as mentors, coaches, and volunteers. We simply make triathlons fun....because that's what it should be, FUN!
Our organized workouts take out the "intimidation" factor, which is critical for beginners but also can be ramped up to challenge the more experienced triathletes too. They present the rare opportunity for multi-sport athletes to train in a group setting before a race with a social aspect that you can't get training solo. Members also have access to USAT Certified Triathlon Coaches, gear, travel boxes, winter indoor workouts, and lots of discounts on races.
